Tony Bellew has told talkSPORT that he believes Mauricio Lara will no longer have the element of surprise on his side in his rematch with Josh Warrington on Saturday night.

The Leeds hero was shockingly stopped by the unknown Mexican back in February, and they are now set to meet again.

Bellew has backed Warrington to get revenge this time around, but insists he can still fight on if the result doesn’t go his way.

“I don’t think his career’s over [if he loses],” Bellew told the talkSPORT Breakfast.

“What I’ll say is that it’s a defining fight in his career.

“This is one of the big ones, he can’t really afford to lose.

“He’s got a place to go if he does lose, with wins over the likes of Kiko Martinez, Kid Galahad, Carl Frampton, Lee Selby, it allows him to take a loss here – but he has to start all the way at the bottom again if he does.

“It’s a massive amount of pressure on him, but I do think he’ll come through it.”

Explaining his reasoning for backing a Warrington win, Bellew added: “It can’t be a shock this time.

“When he gets hit – and he is gonna get hit, and he is gonna get hurt on Saturday night, but it won’t be a shock to the system.

“He’s expecting it, he knows it’s coming.

“I think he’ll ride out the storm and win on points.”
